FAQ

We understand that joining our CSA is a commitment to your wallet, kitchen, and the farming community. We’ve tried to answer our most frequently asked questions in detail below.

    • On-Farm members fill their designated Highwater tote bag from a selection of in-season produce. Our model is “take what you need” and is not volume-based. We ask that members pick up what their household can use on a weekly basis.

    • Glenwood & Carbondale Pick-up members receive a pre-packed box with an assortment of in-season produce.

We manage our shares to provide the quantity and diversity of produce to meet the weekly needs, on average, of one household. Produce available varies by season, but includes 8-12 different vegetables per week, and includes a variety of U-Pick crops from the field.

  • We want our farm members to be able to engage directly with the land and their produce. Members are invited to participate in U-Pick by harvesting specific crops themselves. Some of our U-Pick crops include: snap peas, green beans, cut flowers, cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, and more!

Our U-Pick crops are available to all CSA members during on-farm CSA pick-up and volunteer days, even if you already picked up your share earlier in the week.

Because U-Pick crops serve all of our members, we ask that harvest limits are observed in the field.

  • 2024 CSA memberships are $775 for ~18 weeks of produce, number of weeks may vary based on farming conditions.

  • Payment in full is requested when possible. Payment plans are available for those who request it. Send our Farm Manager an email to find out more.

  • We are unable to accommodate members splitting a share with other households for On Farm pick-up.Box pick-up members are welcome to share their shares.

Our On Farm market-style CSA provides greater flexibility than a traditional CSA by allowing members to fill a bag with a selection of vegetables that they will use for the week. The produce they do not use is left for other families and the food pantry.

Each membership is an investment in the farm and supports our ability to grow nutrient-dense food, feed our neighbors, and pay our staff a living wage. If a full share farm share is not for you, please consider the half share option.

Our community and model is trust-based, please respect the parameters we have laid out so that we can continue to provide this service to the community.

  • Because we offer flexible pick-up options, we hope that all members are able to make it to a weekly pick-up. If you go out of town for a period of time or are unable to make pick-up, you have the option to send someone in your place or forfeit your share for the week.

When you send someone in your place, please notify our team (via our weekly email form) and we will pre-pack a box share for them. Visitors to the farm who do not hold a membership are not eligible to participate in U-Pick crops and are not allowed to fill a bag.

If another CSA member is picking up on your behalf, please ensure that they have your designated Highwater Farm tote.
