Assistant Farm Manager

POSITION TIMELINE: April 1- October 30, 2025

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Highwater Farm is seeking the right person to fill an Assistant Farm Manager (AFM) position. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 1-2 seasons working in vegetable production or similar outdoor work, will be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, excellent attention to detail, organization, time management and communication skills. This is an entry-level management position supported by professional development and has potential for upward mobility within the organization, including increased responsibility and financial compensation.  

Working in close cooperation with the Farm Manager, the Assistant Farm Manager (AFM) will assist in all areas of field production and help to ensure the farm is operating efficiently. Daily tasks include: seeding; greenhouse management; cultivation and bed prep; transplanting; irrigation; weed and pest management; harvesting, washing, and marketing crops; and record keeping.

Field Lead

POSITION TIMELINE: April 15- October 15, 2025

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Highwater Farm is seeking up to two Field Lead Positions to support all aspects of farm management. Positions are seasonal with a 6-month contract starting in April or May. Full or part-time work is available.  One season of farming experience or equivalent outdoor exposure is recommended and a willingness to learn/ be involved in all areas of food production is required.  Additionally required is the ability to lift 50+ lbs, work long hours in all types of weather conditions, and have a positive attitude and enthusiasm for sustainable food production.    

The Field Lead reports directly to the Farm Manager to assist in all areas of crop production and help ensure the farm is operating efficiently. This position requires participation and leadership in all aspects of vegetable production and land management on 3 acres.

Crew Leader

POSITION TIMELINE: June 2 -August 2, 2025

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Crew Leader position is a full-time, 9-week commitment from June 2- August 2, 2025. Each Crew Leader is hired to lead a crew of high school Crew Workers and one returning Assistant Crew Leader in farm work, educational workshops, and service opportunities throughout Highwater’s Summer Youth Program. 


This position includes two weeks of farm work and on-site training prior to the start of programming and one day after the program to wrap up and complete program evaluations. Crew Leaders are trained in farming practices and the mission of Highwater Farm, including: work expectations, program structure and schedule, and leadership/safety training. Crew Leaders are required to be available and committed to working the entire 9 weeks.

Farm Apprentice

POSITION TIMELINE: April 15- October 15, 2025

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Farm Apprentice position is a seasonal, 6 month commitment starting in April/May 2025. As an apprentice at Highwater Farm, you’ll learn the ins and outs of running a diversified vegetable farm through personalized instruction, hands-on experience, and active education on 3 acres of land. The ideal candidate has an interest in vegetable production, will be self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, a sense of humor, excellent attention to detail, organization, time management and communication skills. No prior farming experience is required.

The Farm Apprentice reports directly to the Farm Manager to assist in all areas of field production and help ensure the farm is operating efficiently.
